Hashtags Instagram

What are hashtags

For some years now, a special symbol has appeared that has literally invaded all social networks  it is the common hash (#) that, put before any word, takes the name of hashtag.

Hashtags have become popular thanks to Twitter, while Facebook has only started using them in 2013.

Twitter added this function to group the different messages present on the platform, and its operation is very banal, you just have to insert a simple word preceded by the pad symbol, and that’s it!

Example: #newyork

In Instagram the operation is very similar, but instead of the messages the images are gathered.

Through a series of hashtags inserted in the description of a photo, each user will be able to view the same photo simply by inserting the keyword corresponding to the hashtag in the platform’s search bar.

For example, if we use the hashtag “#beach” in the description of a photo on the beach, everyone who types the word “beach” in the search engine will also find that photo among the results.

Origin of hashtags

The invention of hashtags is due to Chris Messina, a San Francisco lawyer, while the first user was Nate Ritter, who in 2007 used the hashtags in a post that described the fires that were occurring in the San Diego area during that period.

Later, in 2010, Twitter integrated this function in its platform and in the following years, the other social networks also adapted to this new trend.

Why are they so important?

Essentially, hashtags order the ever more chaotic world of social networks.

With an ever-increasing number of users and an even greater volume of data and information to compile, hashtags simplify work by allowing us to find specific arguments using a few keywords.

So, it is clear that, without a hashtag, finding a particular information would be like entering a shopping center and seeing all the merchandise mixed, without logical arrangement.

How to Use Instagram Hashtags for Maximum Exposure

How to use hashtags on Instagram

If you have recently subscribed to Instagram and have few followers, receiving likes or other interactions on your own photos is not so easy, although the photos are of the highest quality.

Therefore, using hashtags is essential, especially if used in a logical way. With these precautions you will be able to make your photos extremely popular.

Alternatively, it is possible to quickly increase your notoriety on this social by buying real Instagram likes and followers for a few euros, making your profile more credible and prestigious. By the way, people usually follow profiles with a discrete number of interactions from other users more frequently.

The description of each photo can be up to 2,200 characters, although it may be sufficient to write only a few lines. Instead, the hashtags allowed for each photo are maximum 30  it would be better to insert at least five and, if we manage to reach the maximum limit, better!

NB It is not necessary to insert invented hashtags, better to use precise words that describe the photo well.
