LiveTechDocs new UI design (1)
by - June 1st, 2008
It has been a while since my last post…. Unfortunately plans on paper do not always turn into articles on our blog…
I would like to share with our readers some exciting UI design improvements we are bringing to LiveTechDocs. This partial revamp of the site is based on user feedback and ideas.
Comment button on text block
A few interesting things were improved:
- We use a light grey rollover effect on to highlight selected text
- The comment button changed and moved on the left side of the screen
- We added a tooltip effect on the comment button to show the list of comments attached to the documentation block
Here is the result…
Comment thread
We completely redesigned the comment thread. We use now a large button to display a summary of the comment thread with the original comment title, the author, timestamp, and the thread status (open, fixed, archived).
The comment thread button expands to show the existing comments. We separated the comment author’s information (left side) witht the text of the comment (right side). Also, we only show the first two lines of text.
Post a comment
We came up with a more elegant design for posting a comment with well delimited form fields. Morevoer, you can now select the users to notify… and not user groups as it used to be…
The great designer behind this work is Daniela Mihaylova. She has been with us since the early days of LiveTechDocs and keeps doing wonders!
